Contest results: Central Canada Drummer and Drummerboy 2015

(April 6 2015) — The inaugural Central Canada Drummer 2015 fetish weekend was held Thursday, April 2 through Sunday, April 5 (the Easter long weekend) in Toronto, Ontario. The Presenting Sponsor was Steamworks Baths Toronto, the official bathhouse of Central Canada Drummer (CCD). The weekend featured eight events in four days, staged by CCD organizers and community partners. A highlight of the weekend was the inaugural Central Canada Drummer fetish contests.

Matt M of Toronto, Ontario, won the title of Central Canada Drummer 2015. Also competing for that title was Mask’d Cat, of Toronto, who placed first runner-up. Boy Darcy, also of Toronto, claimed the title of Central Canada Drummerboy 2015. With only one contestant in the Drummerboy category, boy Darcy was required to achieve a minimum score of 70% to be awarded the title. There were no contestants for Central Canada Drummer Bootblack. Matt and boy Darcy will advance to compete at the Drummer North America 2016 fetish contests in Florida in February. (Visit for more information.)

Judges for the contests were: from Toronto, Sir James Keohane, Central Canada LeatherSIR 2014; boy Gary Major, Central Canada Leatherboy 2014; RubberBoy Rodney, Rough House fixture and member of Chicago Hellfire Club; and Master Tony Palazzo, International LeatherSIR 2009, who served as Head Judge; and, from Ottawa, Daniel Ivan Harris, Mr Rubber Ottawa 2014.

The Saturday contest included the presentation of the 2015 Community Builder Award, presented by weekend producers, to Joseph (JJ) Deogracias for his dedicated support of and involvement in local leather events, and his journalistic coverage of the leather community.

Central Canada Drummer and Central Canada Drummerboy are fetish titles — celebrating the diverse range of sexual fetishes of gay men. Titleholders network and do outreach to help educate individuals and the broader gay community about gay men’s fetishes, erotic expression, traditions and history — and of course, encourage fetish and gear play, BDSM and hot kinky sex. Contestants are judged in four categories: Interview; Speech & Image; Physique; and Fantasy Scene that highlight their fetishes and play. Judges conducted the interview portion on Friday afternoon; the remaining three categories were done on stage during the contest on Saturday.

CCD contests are designed to better reflect the reality of gay men active today in the fetish/kink communities. Each title is open to the broad spectrum of fetish identities celebrated by gay men — from rubber, uniforms, skinhead and leather, to sports kit, military, punk and more — and reach beyond any one specific power dynamic. Eligible contestants are gay-identified biological or trans men in the fetish/kink communities, age 21 or older, and residents of Ontario. (Age 21 is the legal age to compete at the DNA contests held in the United States.)

CCD fetish weekend depended on a roster of talented and dedicated volunteers. New to the roles this year, Iain Bennett and Dan Madden joined the Drummer North America family as co-producers for the Central Canada region. Key coordinator roles included: Master Chuck, Eastern Canada LeatherSIR 2011, of Sudbury, as Den Daddy; Master Scott Bukovac as Tally Master; Jeremy G as Judges’ Boy; Fenn, Mr International Rubber 2010, served as Stage Manager; and, Gloria McIsaac, as Box Office Manager; and Polo Izquierdo and Ric Cohen handled event operations; all are from Toronto. Tom Stice, International slave 1995 and Southeast Mr Drummer 1998, of Chicago, Illinois returned as contest emcee.

The weekend kicked off with sex and sweat at the Squeal fetish party held Thursday night at Steamworks Baths. On Friday, Gear’d Up @ The Guard was the official meet and greet reception with contestants, judges and event attendees, at Club120. The event was also a step-down celebration for Central Canada LeatherSIR James, Leatherboy Gary and Community Bootblack Susy. Friday night, people danced and partied at the PiTBULL! “Good Guys Gone Bad.” The contests took place Saturday afternoon at Club120, followed later that night by a Leather Pub victory party at Churchmouse & Firkin. Saturday night survivors were up in time to join the new Central Canada titleholders at the Sunday morning Victory Brunch, also at the Firkin. The season finale of Toronto’s infamous Rough House dungeon party took place Sunday afternoon, and Spearhead’s annual dance party, Fantasy Ball, was held Sunday night at the Black Eagle and was the official weekend wrap-up party.
